A Night of Miracles: How God Saved Me from a Hopeless Battle with Cancer

A Night of Miracles: My Testimony

Heavenly Father, I thank You for giving Sumathi to me as my wife. Now, I submit her according to Your will. I don’t want to be selfish. If I need a wife and Isaac needs a mother, please give her back to us. I submit her into Your mighty hands. In the name of Jesus, Amen!

These were the words my husband prayed on what felt like the most hopeless night of our lives—September 15, 2021, at the Cancer Institute in Adyar, Chennai.

A Battle with No Hope

The struggle for my life began on July 12, 2021, with relentless blood and platelet transfusions. When chemotherapy started, we had some hope, but it failed, and my condition worsened day by day.

My doctor’s only response was, “Let’s hope.”

Every morning, we waited anxiously to hear that my WBC count had increased beyond 100, but every day, the response was the same:

“Sister, what’s my count today?”
“100, Sumathi.”

For over a month, my count remained unchanged. I suffered from a continuous fever and unbearable body pain.

Living on the Edge

I was completely wired to machines—monitored 24/7.

  • External oxygen was supplied to keep me alive.
  • Blood pressure and pulse were closely watched.
  • A central line was inserted for medication.
  • ECG leads were attached to ensure I was still breathing.
  • A urinary catheter was inserted.

My husband was always by my side, caring for me. One day, I asked him with tears in my eyes,

“Please, can you arrange a video call? I want to see Isaac (our 2-year-old son), Amma, Sudha (my sister), and my in-laws.”

I sobbed as I told my sister, “Sudha, it’s too painful. My body is hurting so much.”

Her heart shattered hearing my words. No one knew what to do.

Soon, I refused blood tests because of the unbearable pain. I started crying and screaming,

“Please, let me go home! I want to see my son, Isaac! I want to leave this place!”

My husband, holding back his own tears, tried to comfort me. “It’s okay, dear. Everything will be alright.”

A Last Attempt—And Failure After Failure

The doctors began administering WBC booster injections—one in the morning and one in the evening. The injection was excruciatingly painful, yet it had no effect.

On September 10, the doctors approached my husband with a final option:

“Arrange for WBC donors. We will try one last time.”

Finding donors wasn’t easy. The process required them to take an injection a day before donation to boost their WBC count for safety reasons.

Through immense effort from family and friends, we found four WBC donors.

The WBC was transfused in the morning, and we waited anxiously for the next day’s blood test results.

The result? NIL.

We tried again. The next donor failed the fitness test.

We had two donors left. One more failed, and the last one backed out at the last moment.

Every possible option had failed. Every door had shut.

A Surrender to God

My husband knelt beside my hospital bed, holding my hands and swallowing his tears. He prayed:

“Heavenly Father, I thank You for giving Sumathi to me as my wife. Now, I submit her according to Your will. I don’t want to be selfish. If I need a wife and Isaac needs a mother, please give her back to us. I submit her into Your mighty hands. In the name of Jesus, Amen!”

September 15, 2021, was the darkest night of our lives. I truly believed it would be my last.

A Miracle in the Morning

When I opened my eyes the next morning, Sister Mohana stood next to me holding a unit of WBC.

My husband, confused, asked, “Sister, who sent this?”

She replied, “Someone came, donated the WBC, and left.”

Shocked, we asked, “But all our arranged donors failed. Did the hospital arrange someone? Can we get his number? Who was he?”

She simply said, “He came yesterday, took the required injection, and donated the WBC today. We don’t know his name.”

Who was this person? Who sent him?

God Himself came and gave me His blood.

The next day, my WBC count increased to 400. Then, it rose to 800, 1,500, 4,000…

My fever disappeared. My pain vanished.

  • The oxygen support was removed.
  • The catheter was taken out.
  • I started to sit and stand again.

The doctor came and said, “After a bone marrow test next week, you can go home.”

We were expecting to be shifted from the ICU to a ward. But instead, we witnessed God’s hand and miracles.

God’s Ways Are Greater

When every door closes and every effort fails, if we surrender everything to God, He will start working for us.

Yes! God still performs wonders. Amen!

Homecoming

I was finally discharged. When I reached home, we praised and thanked God.

But my little Isaac didn’t recognize me—he only knew his father.

Conclusion

1.    When all human efforts fail, surrendering to God opens the door for miracles. My healing was not just medical but a divine intervention that proved God's power and love.

2.  Faith and prayer can move mountains. No matter how hopeless a situation seems, God’s timing and ways are beyond our understanding—He is always in control. 🙏✨

Thank You🙏
