One such inspiring figure is Dr. Muthulakshmi Reddy , a trailblazer in medicine, social reform, and women’s empowerment in India. Dr. Muthulakshmi Reddy was born on 30 July 1886 in Pudukkottai, Tamil Nadu , during a time when education and professional opportunities for women were extremely limited. Despite facing social barriers, she showed remarkable determination and became the first girl to be admitted to the Maharaja’s High School in Pudukkottai , which was previously only for boys. She later made history again by becoming the first woman student in the Department of Surgery at Madras Medical College . Beyond her achievements in medicine, Dr. Reddy dedicated her life to uplifting women and protecting their rights .
